You Can Make a Difference!
i have only been there one time but all i caught were small crappie. it is not a very big place.
If it's the same Cox Creek we are talking about its a pretty small lake, about 15-20 miles south of Sheridan. I used to fish it, but haven't been there in a few years. Not know for big crappie, but you can go get a good mess of fillets. Not usually alot of folks down there. If you come down, I suggest eating at Dorey's catfish buffet in Leola after a day on the water. It's some fine vittles down there
My brother fishes cox creek quite a bit and other than the distance from Benton to Sheridan or there abouts he seems to catch crappie and grass carp every time he goes down there.
I have to comment on the food at Dorey's as it is some of the best that I have eaten in awhile.
I am a combat Vietnam Vet. and although it looks like the rice patties in Vietnam when you top the hill, the food is good and the petting zoo in a bonus for the kids. There are also some great folks that run the place.
Let me second the motion on Doreys.
It may be the best buffet, I've EVER eaten. Everything is cooked exactly perfect.....always.

Crappie and a buffet? Sounds like a place worth checkin' out...![]()
I have never fished Cox Creek, but have always wanted to. We eat at Dorey's on average once every 2 months or so. (Deer camp is at Carthage, so Dorey's isn't too far from there. They also have their "CaterWagons" at Sheridan and Fordyce. The CaterWagons are just as good, just a smaller selection.
