    Thumbs up Hot Springs fishing

Greetings to all you Arkansans out there!

My wife and I are finally getting a chance to visit Hot Springs--will be there all of next week. I know it is a little early and the water a little cool for shore fishing, but does anyone have any suggestions for fishing around Lake Hamilton? We will be staying at South Shore Lake Resort, will not be bringing a boat so I may venture out to DeGray Lake or just around Lake Hamilton.
I would love to book a trip with Jerry Blake or Darryl Morris, but would be too pricy to do so just myself. (wife is more of a shopper than a fisher) But would be interested in filling in a fishing party to lessen the cost of each fisherman.

Any suggestions on fishing from shore on Lake Hamilton (and where publicly you can fish or even Degray Lake) not too far from where we are staying would be appreciated! There seem to be a lot of golf courses around, any suggestions on where to play for a mediocre duffer?

    Thanks!
    Jerry

I have relatives that like to golf at Glenwood. I think it's about 45 mins from Hot Springs.

You won't regret fishing with Jerry or Darryl, and I bet they'll chime in with some spots to hit on Hamilton even if you can't make a trip with them.
    I think I got one...

There is some really deep water under the South Shore Condo docks you could spend all day and night fishing. Looks like rain is in the forcast for the first few days of the week so a fishin hole with a roof would be the ticket.

    Hey Jerry:

Other than the docks right there at Southshore I don't know of any place you would be allowed to fish that you could catch crappie this time of year. The problem with Southshore is you may not be able to get out on the docks to fish them. They have locked gates on them and they probably won't give you a key unless you have a boat slip rented. If you're interested in catching stocked trout I'm told you can limit out in short order below Blakely Dam near Mountain Pine.

When will you be here? If I don't book a trip for Tuesday, I'll have the Boo Crew out for a few hours of scouting before we drop some condos and you're welcome to join us - won't cost you a dime. I'll probably be doing some scouting Wednesday morning for a trip that afternoon and you are welcome to join me then if that would work out better for you.

We're catching some gooduns right now!

I'm not a golfer but I'm told Glenwood is good and it's right on the way to Greeson so you could play a round on your way back from catching a mess of crappie!

Wished I could be there to meet you and help out with some slabs, but I'm out of commission for a little while.

Heck Jerry you may have a future as a travel agent, that sounds like a heck of a deal, trout, crappie and golf. If his wife doesnt go nuts shopping he may have the best vacation of his life.

Thanks guys for the suggestions on fishing and golfing!

Darryl, hope you are recovering well from your gall bladder surgery! My thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery!

Thanks, Woohdog for the Glenwood golf idea. I looked at the course on the web and it looks great and reasonable!

Gooch, I don't worry about my wife going nuts. She has been driving me nuts for over 30 years with her shopping!

Jerry, thanks for the great offer! We plan on being in Hot Springs late Sunday Feb 10 and go back the next Saturday or Sunday. Either Tuesday or Wednesday morning sound great, whichever would work out better for you. Looks like it's about an hour from where we are staying. Maybe by the end of the week you will know what your plans are. If it works out, great, if not another time! Looking forward to it!

    Hey Jerry:

I'm supposed to tape a show either Monday or Tuesday depending on which day the weather looks best so I am open one of those days and Wednesday unless I book trips. We'll probably be Doing The Boo but we'll be doing some "scouting" too and you're welcome to join us. Give me a call Sunday evening and we'll try to get together - 501-844-9028.
