Default Thanks for being a part of our Christmas

Christmas came early at the Morris house. The boys are old enough to know that ole dad ain't Santa, but they know he's fat and jolly enough to be one of his head elves.

You gents on the Arkansas board played a big part in helping me pick new, matching deer rifles for the boys. They got the works with Savage 270 Win. We spent this afternoon at the Scatter Creek Rifle Range. The boys were on paper at 50yds. and after one adjustment they were nailing a respectable, first-timer 4-inch group at 100yds (off-hand). When they can consistently make that 100yd. group in 2-inches, we'll move back to 200yds. We had a great time, worked hard on cleaning the rifles, ate pizza and played one-up on the sore shoulders. Merry Christmas! Hope to see ya'll at Spring Crappie Camp.

Darryl, glad you were able to make a decision on rifles for them boys. And for first time shooters (if I understood right) 4 inch groups at 100yrds that will still knock em down. Keep in mind that some rifles are funny about what ammo you use, could be the reason for the spread in the groups.

No, they're not first time shooters. But it was for those rifles, plus it had been a long time since we last did some shooting.

Just remember most rifles will hit a different zero between 100 and 200 yards. Rifes really shoot a curve and drops faster the further out you shoot. Bullet weights and powder charges greatly effect the point of aim.
Merry Christmas and hope them boys get a chance to use those new rifles.
