Is anything needed for the eats? Jim.
Cane Creek ? from WI. I visit yearly and stay at White Oak Park and fish the area around White Oak using a cataraft. Is Cane Creek a troublesome bottom filled with things that could cut my pontoon tubes or can the bad stuff be seen clearly to avoid, and is the water depth usually clear of hazards. Thanx for any info.
I don't think I would put my toon boat in this hole in Arkansas. I have fished it only twice and have seen some 20' or bigger bass boats in it. But, where we will be fishing is better suited for smaller craft. There will be plenty of the "Bass Buggy" two man type boats there.Quote:

Hey folks, the time is drawing near. The weather is lookin' good, I've got my poles all lined out, and I'm just dreamin' of haulin' in those beautiful CC crappie. But before we get ahead of ourselves, just a few more things...
It looks like I will be getting into Star City tomorrow evening after dark. I'll have to run by the in-laws and put in a hello for the weekend. I will try my best to get down to the campground for a little while Friday Night. Last I heard, Jerry should be settin' his camper up on Friday afternoon. Your best bet would be to look for him. He drives a white toyota and he has a war eagle boat with a white johnson outboard (also has a jack plate...can't miss him). Jerry, would you post the campsite that you'll be at? I'm guessing that's where we will all converge for the eating. I plan to be there very early Sat morning...thinking sometime between 4-5am. No one needs to be there that early...I just want to get out there and do a little fishing before everyone gets there, since I plan on helping other folks get on the fish Sat morning. I'm going to send everyone mine and Jerry's phone numbers this evening, so be sure to check your PM's later on tonight.
Eats...I've got a gallon of peanut oil, the cooker, fish fry, onion, and a bag of taters. If someone wants to bring drinks, go for it, otherwise everyone just bring your own drinks. If someone wants to make up some hushpuppies for the grease, go for it, but I think that we'll have plenty of sides anyways. One thing that definately needs to be covered is condiments....ketchup, tarter sauce, hot sauce, and any others that I'm leaving out.
I know that I'm forgetting something, but oh well...we wouldn't be crappie fishermen if we didn't forget something...:D
So here's a list of folks that are more than likely going to attend...Please respond if your name should be on the list and isn't or vice versa...

Well it looks like my calendar will remain open for the weekend, so Grubby and I will be there for sure. If you don't recognize me by my boat you'll know it's me by the one yelling all the way across the lake...
Fish On!!!
or by the one laughing cuz Grubby is hung up again, lol. I'll have plenty of room for non-boaters.
I'll be in campsite 15 by sometime Friday afternoon. I just loaded some firewood for a camp fire Saturday nite. Will also bring a fish cooker and oil to help with the cooking. Hey Darrell do you know how to make those famous hushpuppies that Carlos makes, that would really be a treat. Looking forward to seeing everyone. My cell is 870-723-3021 if anyone needs to call me. I fished CC today and it was veerrry slow, but that was probably because of the cold front, hopefully it will pick up by the weekend. My brother and I just caught 2 keepers, but nobody was doing any good. But I have confidence it will be good by Saturday, a new moon and good weather, we should do good. See y'all this weekend.
Chris - I'm going to try be there around 6 a.m. Saturday, or thereabouts. I'm bringing cole slaw and a quart (again, thereabouts) of tartar sauce. Not sure I'll be able to hang in there until the fish fry, but I do want to contribute.
Again, thanks for organizing. Just have to get through tomorrow.

I hate soccer!
Leaving out in a few hours...y'all have a safe trip. I can already feel that big ol' slab trying to pull me over the side of the boat...:D
