    Default Crappie of the woods

Just couldnt bring myself to miss the opening of bow season even with the soaring temps. Had a food plot full of deer when I got there and managed to slip into my blind unoticed despite the lack of camo. Passed up shots at 2 does, 3 yearlings, a 3,6, and 8 point bucks before the crappie of the woods presented a shot. This is not only my first bow kill turkey but is also unique as it's the Rosie O'Donnell of the woods, a bearded HEN turkey. It threw the lady at the check station a curve as she didnt know if she should check it as a male or female. I told her since it had such big breast, no spurs and no obvious male part it must be a female and she agreed. Name: 100_1434 (Small).JPG

WTG Gooch. Storms ran me straight home. I figured if it was going to be crappy weather, I had just soon work and save that day when the weather was better. Nice kill man.

congratulations Gooch - I have never killed a bearded hen, but two years ago I got a tom with three beards - a 10.5, 4.5, and a 4.0 incher. Got the tail and three beards hanging on my wall.
