Default finally starting to drop Nimrod

Well guess the Corps are finally opening some water.:D Nimrod has dropped about 4'' in the last 24 hours. Hope they start releasing more soon . It's about 9' high. That's what we need before fishing will improve. The lake needs to get back down to normal levels. Let's hope the fish will bite after it's back down.

    Default you are right

I was part of a conference call yesterday that consisted of members of the COE, other port operators, and tug boat operaters, etc. Don't quote me because I got in late and didn't want to interupt or make people repeat stuff. But, what I understood was that the COE is concerned about the amount of "flood reserve" the different impoundments that drain into the Arkansas were at. Most were at 28% of what they can hold. Knowing the potential for fall rains, they are interested in stepping up draining the flood reserves back to 100%. The plan is to open up the dams to 60000 cfs and try to maintain the river at 100000cfs. I didn't hear how long it would take to get the different lakes back to normal. I did hear the river could be back to normal at the end of August. Just for reference...small craft advisories go out at 70000 cfs.
Looks like I might get the toon boat out on the river once before it is time to put it away for fall fishing.

Greeson is still high but falling at a regular pace. It has certainly been an unusual year. The high water has kept the fish scattered. We had a great spawn this year and shad populations are well above normal. The whites and stipers haven't show the least interest in breaking this year. Thats okay, a few years like this will payoff in two or three from now. Now's the time to make more habitat and keep adding to ones knowledge of the lake. Good things come to those that work and wait.
