Default Night fishing at Greers Ferry

Went on my first night fishing trip for crappie at Greers Ferry last night. I think I'll be going back and doing that again. Set up as the sun was going down and caught my first crappie real quick, then a couple more. They slowed down for awhile and then started bitting again about 11:00. It was cloudy no moonlight, there was alot of baitfish around my light. Going to be a little better prepared next trip, learned some things from this one. Had most of my minnows die on me and ran out when they started bitting good, would have caught more. I really enjoyed night fishin for crappie.

Night fishing for them can be alot of fun. I have seen my dad and uncle sit there from dusk til dawn fishing them. They would go 300 shiners, an ice chest full of beer and an empty ice chest for the catch. They would go home when they ran out of either bait or beer. Sometimes sit there for 4 hours before they would bite, then catch 20 or so and wait for the next run.. Congrats on having a fun trip and good luck on your next one.
You can't fish with a hung line!

The first memories of night fishing were on Greers Ferry with my Dad. I was about 6 or 7 at the time and he would make me a palet in the back of the boat as I would always fall asleep on him. We only used a coleman lantern and seemed to always catch fish. On one trip we even hooked up with a 7 pound lake trout.

Keep up the reports and take a camera with you next time. I'm sure some of those crappie were hogs as most clear lake crappie are.
