    Default Let’s talk baits

What’s your favorite and why? Stained or clear water!
Mine of course Crappie Magnet! Stained I like pink/black with chart head. Clear any of the blues. And I can’t ever leave out troutmagnets , they work great as well sometimes when I’m trolling I’ll run 1/4oz on bottom and troutmagnet on top.

I’m liking orange/chartreuse more and more in stained water. Home lakes near HS it’s hard to beat black/chartreuse. I have bags of crappie magnets bought at Grizzly Jig shows never even tried.

All I use is Southern Pro tubes . I like insert jig heads . Only 2 baits . Orange/chartreuse Little Hustler 2.5'' on a 1/4 oz or purple/chartreuse Umbrella tube on a 1/8 oz jighead . Presentation means much more than color or bait to me . Livescope has proved alot of what I believed as I have put a bare unpainted jighead on their nose and bam ! . Crappie sit right on bottom real often and perfer baits still as possiable . Lots of guys thought Crappie were not biting when going to favorite brushpiles with no luck . Look out in the open and many times on bottom , put a jig on them and game on . I like longer rods because I can hold it on their nose and farther out . To show guys about not jigging their baits alot for years I showed them this . Hold your bait out on your line on a long pole and try to hold it still . That jig vibrates or wiggles just from your heart beat no holding it perfectly still no matter how you try . Nothing beats confidence no matter what bait or pole you fish with .

I dont have a favorite bait , I carry tons of them with me in my truck and make a guess as to what they would like to see on any given day or water body .
some spots require less than traditional offerings to get lots of bites ,some not so much . water clarity ,time of year , and preferred food sources influence me greatly ,along of course with what they wanted the last visit to whatever spot I hit .

I have several favorites, plastics and hand tied.
I’ve noticed on water that is heavily fished, color that other people aren’t using sometimes helps catch fish. Also presentation makes a huge difference.
