We had our saltwater gathering this past weekend and had a blast. Check out the Louisiana board for the gathering post.

We went last wednesday in Pensacola...We caught 7 Kings, A flounder, A Red, And a black Snapper, A shark, and several hard tails, and several of those worthless Ocean cats....It was a blast, we got to see the Blue Angels practicing. They where flying right over us...It was a cool trip.:D

If you never seen a sheephead fish, it is one of the ugliest fish you will see, and I have a pic of one and a closeup of their "sheep" teeth.

Five friends and I went out of Cocodrie, La, three weeks ago and had a blast. We caught 350 pounds of fish. Snapper--Red, Mangrove, Yellowtail--shark, amberjack, grouper, wahoo, triggerfish, mackerel, cobia--I caught a 41 pound cobia. I don't know what those fish are holding on to down there, but they sure are hard to pull up! We couldn't have asked for better weather conditions. You could look down in the water and see lots of fish. I would highly recommend everyone to try this at least once----and like other things, you will soon be planning your next trip!

How long was the trip you went on to catch all those fish, was it a 8 hour trip. We went on one a couple of years ago and all we caught were red snapper.

We left the dock around 5:45am and got back around 4:30 pm. We had our limit of red snapper (which is only 2 each) in less than an hour. We caught several, but in hopes of catching some bigguns, we were throwing back 8 lb fish!

Where did you go out of when all you caught was the snapper?

We went out of Cocodrie, Louisiana. Went 50-60 miles out, fishing the rigs. I may not completely understand why certain fish tend to associate with certain rigs, but I'm glad our guide knew where to go! When we limited on the reds---with some other species mixed in---we concentrated more on the mangroves---and whatever else would come up.

Here's the biggest red snapper of the day--18-20 lbs, caught by a friend.
