    Default amazing video

My cousin sent me this video of some guys bow fishing for Asian carp. Thought it was cool at first then I thought about the impact they would have if they were in our local waters. If they were ever introduced into largely populated waters like Lake Hammilton or Greers Ferry the economic impact would be devastating to the state. I know my wife wouldnt be going back to the lake after getting whopped up side the head with a carp.

Now I've heard the saying that the fishing was so good that they were jumping in the boat, but that really goes too far!! Thanks for sharing that, seems I've heard of those before but like you I'am glad we don't have them here. Not sure how safe that would be going up the lake and getting slapped up the side of my head by a 3 or 4 lb. fish!!

It would be tough to go across Geers for a night stalk. Its bad enought doging the green carp fishermen and water lice.

Hey Goocher, you might be able to catch something besides a cold if you take one of those trips. From the looks of it, you'd better take some headgear and leave the expensive sunglasses at home...:D

I wonder if that could ever be a new ESPN 2 primetime show. With all the tourney sponsers and judges? I know a easier and faster way to thin them things out. Remington. I also wonder would we have to buy Federal Carp Stamps? Ouch, that would hurt getting thumped by one of them things. Had shad come in the boat.

I was thinking the same thing. That sure looks like it would be fun with a 12 guage pump and some #6 shot. Be sporting and use low brass though.

I think those are the same thing as a white armour. Those were stocked in Lake Conroe near Houston to keep the sailboaters happy about the hydrila. Talking about messing up a good fishing lake. All it is good for now is skiers and water lice. I do see some pretty good reports on the Texas board occasionaly these days. They must be on some brush piles because there is not one blade of grass in that lake now.

Don't bring these fish to Arkansas.

 Don't they do their jumping thing around swift water or below damns? I guess I haven't paid much attention but I sure hate to hear their in our waters but if they make good cut bait I guess their not a total waste. Just drive the boat up the lake and let the bait jump in!!:D

Did some netsearch and what I read was alarming. There have been numerous folks severly injured and or killed by these things. An 8 year old little boy had to have major face reconstructive surgery after being hit in the face when riding in a boat. The fact that most all of these studies agree that when not if they invade the great lakes they will be the the predominate fish species. Some even suggest there will be more of them than all other species combined once estabished in a body of water. Here is a link to one of the shorter good reads I found on the subject.
