Hah...I think your shellcracker honey hole is pretty safe with me around...I'm thinking about spider-riggin' for 'em...:D
But really, I took my wife-to-be and the dog bream fishin' at Conway this afternoon. After she slept in, we got on the lake around 11ish and was run off by a thunderstorm at 3:30. Searched the spots hard, but couldn't find any bedding fish...or at least none that would bite a cricket or a jig. Found a few nicer fish hanging in the cove, but in 3' of water on the bottom. Didn't see many bubbles, but maybe they are spawning that deep...just unusual to me. Anybody have an idea? The fish were pretty easily spooked, especially when the dog needed to take a dip...:rolleyes: I could only pick 1 or 2 up out of each spot, but didn't really get to do much search/destroy with the "kids" along for a ride. Launched at Paradise and could only find calmer water around that gravel bar. Ended up with 8 or 9 bream and 1 shellcracker.
And Steve, you need to come on up. We can take a crappie road trip, and I'll tow the boat while you catch a breeze...:cool:
Whew, I was a nervous wreck at work today. Figured you'd have pics of bucket fulls of slab crackers.
I'll say again, Conway is a dusk and dawn lake and at mid-day nothing bites. They are in about 1.5' of water in shady lilypad areas and are VERY spooky.
Hah, J. Since the crickets are staying in for the night, I talked the lil lady into letting me go fish again tomorrow so that they can be eaten...pretty good psychology...:D
I hope you don't get an stomach ulcer tomorrow wondering about me liftin' those big ol' shellcrackers in the boat...and thanks for the info, tomorrow will be dawn or dusk...

CEB , Try using ''Rock Hoppers'' they are weighted flies that look like black knats. We tip them with Crappie nibbles and the Redears loved them better than crickets. We fish last spring just past the handicapped pier on Perice Creek. Good luck on the Bream.:DQuote:

Try the east side of the lake for a change, Pierce creek is a pretty cove, Palarm is the breamiest place on the lake, even Adam's has a couple of good bream holes.
Chris it just might happen this year. We move her into an apartment June 3rd in Little Rock. I told her the other day while we were fishing I might contact you and Dale about a trip sometime, I would bring up my boat (I would be the tail boat) I would just need a guide to your waters, she was all for that.Quote:
