I knew the gate going in to my favorite crappie spot has been locked since last Friday. I was just hoping the land owner was trying to keep people from tearing the road up when it is wet. But not so. Last week when it was wet some jerk got stuck and tore the dash out of a new tractor to hot wire it and pull himself out. So now the land owner is going to keep the gate locked all of the time. Guess I better start looking fo a new fishing hole. It only takes one a$$hole to screw it up for the rest of us. grizzly
Most people call them green onions, but they are really ---------?????

Like saying goes ,one bad apple will spoil the whole barrel.Same goes with access on private ground ,one littering , tearing up or blocking road with a vehicle can cause the area being blocked to all.
The same thing is happening here and acess to some parts we've had for years are now blocked.
Just because of a few sorry indiviuals abusing the prevledges allowed by land owners.
Try visiting the landowner and offering a mess on fish or a little help with fences or whatever. This sometimes has worked to get permisson and a key to otherwise closed spots.:D

You might see if you could get a key to the gate for a small fee if you assured the farmer that you would never drive down the road when its wet. I dont know if your fishing hole is worth a Franklin but it might just be worth a try. You know Ben is quite a salesman.
I guess the same happens everywhere. Then they throw their beer cans out all over the place for the farmer to pick up. Farmers are quite good people and if you are truthful with them 99% of them will give you permission to hunt or fish. Also with the gate up he can monitor who is on his property.
My peeve is that I pay 25 dollars a year for levees between me and the Mississippi River. The government leases part of the levees to farmers, ranchers and then put up gates. I feel if one pays money to maintain something they should have access to it.
The bums got so bad here in NW Arkansas that farmers on the whole length of Crooked Creek closed their access and padlocked gates. Now the only way into of off of CC is through ARGAF access areas. Too bad too cause CC is a great stream for fly fishing smallmouth. But if you have to put in then paddle or float 13 miles before you can get out thats not so good. The few spoil it for the many. SOS everywhere.
If you're too busy to go fishing, you're too busy!
