Yeah thats a Ouachita eye we caught trolling a chrome with blue back and chart belly crank. I had re read J Whites article on trolling and was using some of that info when we caught it. I had pre measured 100 feet of line before leaving the house and marked the line by using a bobber stop. It made it easy for the boys who are 7 & 8 to get the bait to the right depth with that poor mans line counter. I deffinately plan to do some more trolling this summer when the water lice and heat get unbearable. Its not my favorite style of fishing but its still fishing.

I almost got tarred and feathered last time I talked about that on here.
i can safely say without a shadow of a doubt that I have never caught nor ate a Walleye.. I will put that on my list of todo's for sure...
J , I used to Bass fish alot . Now it's Crappie and I still won't eat those smelly thangs (Bass). Fed them to my woman's cat till it died. She thinks it died of old age , I wonder if it was Mercury Poisoning from all the Bass.:D They have an advisory about eating too many here.Quote:

I may have to try that when I go to chicot next weekend.
nice fish
Randy I was just trolling using the rod holders on the rails of the boat. I have thought about using a planer board but dont think it will help much on a lake like Ouachita compared to others, though I have little to no experience to base that on. My thought is on a lake like Chicot they would be great as there is not much depth change on that lake. On Ouachita I could be trolling in 25 foot of water under the boat and a planer board would have that bait in 100+ feet of water out on one side and in the grass on the other. Its something I am going to work on as I think it will be a great way to fish in the dog days of summer when the heat and water lice are unbearable.
Keep us posted on your Chicot trip and dont forget the camera.Quote:
