From what little of a pattern that I could put together today, I'd say the best chance for bigger crappie are females holding at 1'-5' in 3-8' of water. After I ran out of bait, I caught some average size dark males in 1' of water this afternoon with a jig pole.
And sorry, slick. I only got a couple of pictures, but I'll try to find time to post 'em soon.
Around here im not really catching any in the shallow water anymore (shallow being 1 to 3 feet.) Im starting to catch them in the 10 and 12 foot water.
Everything looked like it was going to be good for me starting in March, then in April it went down hill. I caught some crappie at Ramsey but got tired of catching those puny fish. Had to change over to other fish for a while if wanted some to cook. Went to Greers Ferry and caught some bass and bream Friday. Hope everything is getting better for you.
