Crappie Camp Report
I had a great time down there at Greeson this past weekend. The weather started off with a bang Friday night...so much for a nightstalk. I had a very difficult time fishing on Saturday. The weather was overcast...and I couldn't buy a strike even though I saw tons of activity on the depthfinder. I caught a couple of bream, couple of little bass, and a punkinseed. I got skunked on the crappie...
The highlight of the day was getting off the lake and heading over to the pavilion for a BS session. Lots of good info, nice set-ups, good food, and best of all, plenty of folks willing to talk crappie.
I got up on Sunday morning a little later than I intended...but I still left Gooch sleeping. I was trying to get my poles out, and a nice male jumps on the line. They were definately better that morning...and then slowed as the morning wore on. I ended up keeping 8 decent fish. No 15 inchers, but still nice fish. Out of all my trips to Greeson, this is the first time this ol' oxbow-raised country boy had caught a mess of those clear water crappie.
Thanks go out to all folks that helped in the event. This now makes the third CC that I have attended, and it definately gets better and better each time. I'm already excited about the Fall Crappie Camp. Hopefully Jerry and Darryl will be rested up by then...:D
I didn't get too many pics while I was down there. I spent too much time fishin', eatin', and bs'in to take time for pics...but I got a few while I was out on the lake.
Looks like perfect weather to me...

Ol' Goocher trying to fall out of the boat...

Bobberwatcher seeking shelter from the wind with us...

And before long...look who shows up to catch the fish...
