    Default 25 Yamha 4 Stroke

Can anyone comment on this motor. Good or bad, and why did they discontinue this motor in 2006? Thanks, Joe

I have a yamaha 25hp 4 stroke, and have had no trouble out of it. I have had it for 3 years, and it runs perfectly. I didn't realize they discontinued it. I had the starter get stuck on it 1 time, but it was an isolated incident. I do keep my boat/motor garage kept year round. I also fish a lot in the winter, pretty much all year. Outboard motors are always best when used frequently. If they are used 2 times a year, you would more than likely have a little more trouble. I love this 4 stroke. I would buy it all over again. It saves a lot of gas, too.

I went back and forth between the Yamaha and the Merc for my 25 4-stroke...ended up going with the Merc, but never heard one bad thing about the Yamaha. I didn't know that they had been discontinued.

Just make sure you have someone close that would be able to service it...I know in Fort Smith there is no one to work on them...

I've had one for about 3 or 4 years. No problems. Duck hunts in the winter, fishes year round. Starts with a push of the button on the coldest mornings. Super quiet and uses almost no gas. Had mercury 2 stroke will never go back.

    Haven"t had a 25 4-stroke, but have a 1990 model 30 2-stroke and has been a great motor. Love Yamaha motors.
