    Default Bull Shoals Today

Went to the Bull today for about 4 hours. Caught only 3 green carp. Went all the way back into two different coves (big coves), water temp was still about 55. Almost had a 5 foot cottonmouth in the boat but I was able to disuade him with the landing net across the back of his head, forgot to pack the pistol, won't do that again. The coves we were in looked good for a spawn, but no joy yet. Keep trying, bound to get better.:p

Keep trying Flyflinger, and watch out for those snakes. I saw plenty of them one Chicot today.

I'll raise that bet that any snake cotton mouth or not that gets close enough to board my boats going to get shot. Man I hate those things.

Oh yeah, it was a cottonmouth, the Bull is full of em, and climbing in the boat is one of their favorite things to do. Got a buddy down in Florida who shot a couple of holes in the bottom of his boat trying to kill one.

Flyflinger I fish the bull alot and I can tell you the snakes do get friendly at times. I run limblines in the spring when the lake gets high enough and have caught a couple on them and needless to say they don't come back for seconds.

I've fished an old river or oxbow lake in the Black River bottoms for nearly 30 years. It is full of cypress trees, buckbrush, etc., and is as snakey looking as a place could. Over the years I've seen hundreds of water snakes there but only one or two of them were cottonmouths. On the other hand there is a clear water creek in the hills that I've wade fished maybe 20 times and have seen 3 or 4 there. For about about 20 years I spent a lot of time on Greers Ferry and only saw one ever there though I've seen a number of water snakes over those years.

Hey Longliner, where do you live. We need to get together, because I need to learn a bunch about the Bull. If you need help with trout on the White, I'm your man. I would really like to fish with you sometime.

Sounds good. I am going to Reelfoot Lake on the 11th :D and will be back the 15th. The 19th I have to go to Fayetteville VA for my 6mo check up. I PM'd you my phone number, call me after then and we'll hook up. I do have several sea stories (being an old Navy man).:D
