    Default Lake Brewer

Decided to try Lake Brewer for the first time. Well, for crappie anyway. I have bass fished it several times. Saturday morning we found the parking lot with about 8 or 10 boat trailers. We soon joined them braving the wind and RAIN. When it rain like that, I found that a rain suit is not always waterproof. They have raised the lake level so the bank we fished had buck brush and trees in 8-12 feet of water. My daughter and son (21 and 19) caught their fish on minnows and I used a jig tipped with a minnow. By noon we had 13 keepers from 11 to 13.5 inches. 11 males and 2 females.

My wife wanted to go this morning. After she twisted my arm a little, I gladly agreed. The things I do to keep her happy. The parking lot was overflowing with trailers when we arrived at 8:00, but the weather was much better. We fished the same stretch of water and caught 11 more good fish by noon, but today we had 9 females and only 2 males. I would guess the spawn won't be far away. The water temp was 67. I was snake bit early because for every five 6 inch bass I caught, she caught a crappie. After she had 8 in the boat, I finally caught 3. This was our first trip together this year and we had a great time.

I did see several folks catching white bass as well.

Sounds like you all had a large time. Wished we could have given the same fishing report but we had fun as well.

Great report. I wish mine would talk me into going fishin' more often...:D

And just a tip for you...There is a good map available for Lake Brewer. I believe it has contours, brushpiles, attractors, etc. It may be a big help if you don't have one already. I'm sure that other tackle stores carry them, but I've only seen them at Zimmermons. They are on the wall immediately behind the cash registers and such.

Thanks for the info. A map will probably be helpful when they pull back after the spawn. I'm going to try them again next weekend.
