Hate to hear that. I was hoping you were going to be able to rub it in my face for having court this a.m. and not being able to go with you and your bro-in-law.

I went this morning for a couple of hours. We cought 3 crappie. Only 1 worth keeping and it was a big one. One bass about 4-5 pounds and a white bass.
We tried everywhere. The water temp was 62.5. I can't figure them out right now. The little ones were at about 3 1/2 feet and the big one at about 2 feet deep.

How far up did yall fish Kent?
We went all the way up to the lake in the Ranch. That is where we cought the big fish. He was very black and the tail looked a little rough. They are fanning the beds. The water temp in that area was 63.4.
The crappie got really finnicky on the river last year during the spawn. I was fishing there regularly, and had three or four full day-trips with almost limits. From lookin' back at my pictures, it seems that I had good male/female spawn catches the first halves of March and April. So maybe better times are ahead, Joe.
Heads up, ya'll did see in the Sunday paper where the AGFC has confirmed the sightings of a 6' alligator in the Big Maumelle and they're trying to trap it.. I read it and immediately wondered if Dafishkillers puddleboat could outrun a gator, hehe
I had a friend tell me about that but I thought he was pulling my leg.
My fishing partner and I went out on the Little Maumelle this morning at sunrise. We caught about 15 crappie, none of them were slabs but they were big enough for the livewell. Caught them on minnow/jig combos. They wouldn't hit a plain minnow or a plain jig, they wanted both. We also trolled the channel with Rapala Shad Raps and caught 5-6 stripers and a white bass or two.
I saw it too. They said they were going to trap it and relocate the thing
Yep, I heard that they were transferring the reptile to The Goocher Animal Sanctuary in Bryant, AR. Good luck with that.Originally Posted by gooch
You'd better not watch Lake Placid before our next trip out to the river...considering your aversion to reptiles, I'd like to see your reaction to one of those cruising by lookin' at you like your a big ol' butterball turkey...:D
