Thread: help w/ jigs

Fellas,
Crappie fishing is fairly new to me !. I live in N W Ar Pea Ridge to be exact, I will be attending the camp at Horseshoe Bend in May, with my brother inlaw ( Uncle Bunny ), for the closing weekend. I would like to know what Y'all think the top 5 choices of jigs would be (color, size). Will someone be selling jigs there at camp, can someone hook me up with a jig tyer prior to camp. Any help Y'all can provide would be greatly appricated.

well i use an assortment of everything got to find what there biting.

last weekend when we were tearin their lips off it was on 1/16 oz black head with a back/chartruese tube or chartruese curl tail grub. however the last two days have not produced anything worth noting except a slight change in water temp, as well as sushine. 2 fish on black and blue tubes. the bite has seemed to turn off

Amen to that bite turning off. They were SLOW toady.

I caint help you with the colors that work in North Arkansas, but down here, some of the colors that seem to be working well are black/chartruese, black/pink, blue/white, red/chartruese. But these color may not work up north, the water yall fish is much clearer. Someone from further north would have to help you with the colors up there.
As for jig tie'ers there are several on the boards. I just started a thread on the off topic board to see who all is tying or making jigs to sell. I can think of a few but don't want to leave anyone out, so If they reply to the thread, you can keep checking it for some of the guys to contact.

5. black/pink YUM curl tail
4. black/red/chartreuse tube
3. Black/chartreuse beaver tail
2. shineee hineee white or chartreuse
1. black/chartreuse YUM curl tail
All of these on a 1/16 oz round black or regular jighead.
These can all be purchased at Hook Line and Sinker in Rogers.

Pretty much can't go wrong with anything black/chartreuse....I would recommend you try out the Sportsman's Warehouse off Pleasant Grove exit, they are the cheapest and have the largest selection....I do 95% of my sporting goods shopping there.....sometime you should come by the house and I can give you an idea of what I use....so you can see them in person, there are so many jigs, colors, and combinations you could use I can see where they get easily confused....J.T. pretty much revamped my ENTIRE tackle box....told me what to get rid of and what to keep....it worked, I would not be caught dead a day on Beaver Lake without something black/chartreuse though...(p.s.
