The "Dead Sea" is so handy to my house, I have to try it once every year to remind my self why I don't fish it. I always end up on the far end looking for those white bass that are supposed to go up river every year. Then I bounce my butt back in sea swells on the trip back to the landing. It is definetly not a lake for stick steers.

I know this is a crappie forum but I do have a question reguarding Lake Maumelle. A Buddy and I are planning on going out there Friday morning to catch white bass. Neither of us have ever fished for whites before so does anyone have any tips or locations to help with our adventure?

Just head to the West end othe lake and look for boats on the water and fish in the channels. Last Saturday we marked a ton of fish right in the channel about a half mile East of the Hwy 10 bridge though they may have moved up by now. There was an artical in the Ark Dem Gaz Sunday about the very same thing. They were using a spoon I belive and a slip bobber set DEEP.
I always used a white, yellow, smoke or chartruse jig myself but I'm cheap.

If you catch a big ole mess be sure and post a pic.

hey razorbck in okla we some times use 1/4 oz jigs with 3inch white curley tail grubs. just chunk and crank them and they seem to work pretty good. my uncle doubles them up on his rods a lot and catches several doubles. that can be a darn good fight.
