    Default Midway,yesterday. Old Town today


    Sure was pretty yesterday. I caught one fish on Midway. It was about 1.5 pounds. I left at 10am and thought I'd hit Horseshoe. When I got to the ramp on Horseshoe it looked to be about 75 or so trucks parked. Then I said to myself..self, ain't no way I'm launching my boat on Horseshoe. I started to hang around and open up a concession stand. I would have made a killing selling beer. I bet it got pretty hecktic with people leaving the lake and only one boat at a time can load.

    I went to Old Town today and finally found fish in the duck weed. I wound up with 20 fish all about 3/4 of a pound and better. My youngon has the camera so I can't take pics. I'm headed back there in the morning for another beautiful day.

    I saw Gut Shot run by me,he did not see me though. I hope you caught fish mister.

    Sounds like a good day Rusty, you need to get that camera back. Good luck tommorow, I'm taking the day off to go after them again.

    I went to Midway yesterday also, and couldn't find them anywhere. Caught one...sure was a beautiful day though

    Hmm...Catching 1 fish at Midway must be catchin' on. Last weekend I caught 1 fish at Midway and it weight 2lbs. I hope folks start catchin' a few more fish out there, especially that size. Glad you found some in the duck weed tho.

    Now...I'm left trying to decide if I'm going to Old Town or Lake Chicot tomorrow.

    I don't know where Lake Chicot is but, Old Town would be a pretty good drive for you wouldn't it? I launch my boat of the side of the bank on the southeast end. It is a gravel bank. Just in case you decide to venture down. Crappie I caught were in 1 foot of water. I used a red/chartreuse squirming squirt.

    I don't think so. Honestly I have not looked though. I do know there are some places to rent RV parking, maybe they rent boats. I just don't know. sorry

    I am sorry that I did not see you Rusty. I would have loved to visit with you again. I left the lake at 11:00 because I was in such a hurry to watch the Razorebacks play Florida in the SEC Tournament Finals. I wish I had stayed on the lake now. I caught 27 from daylight to 11:00. I drove to Maddox Bay and rented a cabin on Wednsday and fished Old Town Thursday through Sunday. I did pretty well every day. I fished with my brother (Roll) Friday. Everything I caught was suspended about 8 inches deep in 2 to 3 feet of 60 plus degree water. They were sticking tight to isolated stobs, submerged stumps and laydowns. I agree that this week and weekend should be be very productive. I may try to fish Sunday but I am still tired from the 5 plus hour trip to get home yesterday. Funny how all of that "Monday tiredness" just disappears around Thursday or Friday

    luvcdemcrappies: I am not sure about boat rentals but you might try calling the owner of that old bait shop on the lake. His name is Rudy Mauldin. You will have to look his phone number up. He has a home in Lakeview, AR as well as Helena-West Helena, AR. He may be able to rent yo a boat or at least know someone who can. Feel free to use my name. Rudy is related to my Uncle (Randolph Mathis). Hope this helps.

    thanks gutshot,ive been wantin to get a boat this year, since the weather has warmed maybe i can get one if the wifey will let me.
