I will have a local celebrity with me in my boat who has never nightstalked. He may want to drop the lights and stay an hour or two after dark to see what they do.

Looks like Gooch and I are heading down to the Little Maumelle tomorrow afternoon to scope things out. Gooch will have a couple of guys in his boat, and I'll have my boat. With somewhat stable river conditions for the past week, the crappie should be ready to go for a boat ride. It looks like we should be getting to the boat ramp around 3pm and fish till dark-thirty. If anyone wants to join us, post up.

Man you guys are tempting me to make that 140 mile trip to LR. It sounds better and better.
If you're too busy to go fishing, you're too busy!
The Ar river has really calmed down in the last couple of days. However the water is still murky. But it has had me thinking the feeders should be fairly tame.

Chris, I will probably already be out there when you all get there. I am trying to finish up work right now. If you see a red Ford with an empty xpress trailer behind it, look for me.

Have you ever fished that backwater area just below the river port? I was back there one time in a bass tournament and it looked pretty good from what I remember. Just such a long way down there from Murray or Cooks.Originally Posted by DRPEPPER
The next few weeks we will start seeing many boats in the slack water harbor. But, I have spent many days watching them from the dock (wishing I was in there) and have not witnessed many being caught. I know some brush is placed almost dead center of the turning basin. Personally, I have brough my boat just a few times and have never found them. The harbor is full of smaller but eating size bream. The riprap is full of rice slicks. I have never found much structure in the back waters and have never considered placing brush piles because of the currents that frequent them.Originally Posted by gooch
My biggest concern is leaving my vehicle parked at the launches that serve this pool. I would feel safer at the ones you mentioned

I normally put into the LR pool at Burns Park but when crappie fishing is hot I like to take advantage of the limit being 30 east of I-30 bridge so I drive a couple more miles and put in at Alltel launch.
My choice too if there are a bunch of other cars there. My main problem with the river is it is a river. I do much better in lakes.Originally Posted by LazyJ

Chris & Dale, It was good to meet you guys today. Wished we could have stayed longer . . . but you know how it goes. Maybe we can hook up this weekend.
