they posted it unless you own land at the lake
New to forum but very familar with Horn Lake. Horn Lake has no public access any longer....in fact there are only 3 boat ramps into it...all privately owned. They have locked up the 2 ramps on the McDonald side (south) and the north ramp is impossible to get into as the manager for the owner of the land is right next to the ramp. He WILL say something to you! The owners decided to go private because people were constantly parking in their front lawns and leaving their garbage everywhere.
There you go....hope this helps.

Hey Milkwee, thanks for signing-on and clearing up the confusion about Horn Lake. You may have just saved someone a trip over there. It's a shame that any body of water can be taken from the public.
Thanks for the info, and be sure to hang around for awhile. You might find you another honey hole over that way...
I haven't fished that string of oxbows, Spring, Horn, Lil Horseshoe in 30 years. What about Lil Horseshoe, couple miles past Horn? Used to be 4x4 access only through a guy's beanfield, private now also?
I never fished the oxbows up river. Horseshoe above the bridge at Deval's Bluff ,we fished and boated in from the river. Also some lakes down river towards Clarendon. You can get maps that show all the oxbows. I have the Quadrangle maps put out by US Geological Survey. I've been told you can buy navigation maps of the White River at the Federal Building in L.R.:D

Welcome to the board Milkweed. Look forward to some post of those White River Slabs.
Nimrod they do sell the nav maps of the Arkansas, White, and Mississippi rivers at the Fed building in LR.Originally Posted by Milkweed
Spring Lake is almost impossible to get into unless you know someone. Horn is the same. Lil Horn has been posted (last time i checked) by the man who owns the beanfield. He also owns the beanfield between Horn and Straight Lake....meaning....if you do get into Horn and try to go to Straight Lake when the water is low and try dragging your boat through his field...GL..it is not a good plan from what I hear.
As far as access to Spring or Horn through the White River.....Spring Lake begins flooding when the White river gets to FS 15.2. They have installed a valve-like system to let the water in and not let it out. Horn Lake floods mostly from the Spring when the FS levels get to 17.2. The cypress channel from Spring to Horn has long been over-grown and non-accessable for years.
Not sure ablout any other lakes in that area.
Overcup..here we come.

Lil Horn.. that was it
So many horns 'n horseshoes in that triangle between Des Arc, Brinkley, and Clarendon. Used to be a pay access lake just north of I-40 there at Biscoe, condos and trailer parks there too probably.
Thanks for the info Milkweed
