    Default March Nightstalk/condo drop/day trip

Well we all had such a good time at the February stalk, and we got money in the bank for another, so lets it going again in March.

I am posting a poll again to get a date that would be best for the majority of us. However I am going to throw in a twist. Its not written in stone that we have to do a nightstalk, nor that we go to the Little Maumelle for that matter. So chime on in if any of you have a better suggestion on a location, or if you think a day trip would be better. Lets still try to keep it centraly located or at least 30 miles or so of Little Rock. I would also suggest we do it in the middle of the month so we dont burn to many kitchen passes before crappie camp.

Another idea that CEB and I came up with is to have a combo event and drop condos then nightstalk, or drop condos and do a day trip. We have worked hard to get several areas sweetend up out on the Little Maumelle but we want more. If we all pitched in and brought just 2 condos per boat we could make some sweet spots for all of us to use in a hurry. So be sure and let your thoughts known not only if you would be interested in being a participant, but also locations you think we all would benefit from a group condo drop.

Look forward to seeing you all again in March

    Hey Gooch
Don't have much boo up here in the frozen north, what we do have is real short and thin. But would love to attend and see how the masters do it. Another nightstalk in conjunction with a condo drop sounds like fun. I am going to look at a boat tomorrow, it an alweld. Seen pictures of it but not looked at the actual boat. The guy is bringing it down from MO tomorrow afternoon. Let you know how it turns out.

Hey good luck on the boat. I sure hope you get it. I think you will find it more relaxing than wading over slipery rocks chasing trout.

Dont worry about bringing a condo to the next event. Its just an idea CEB and I had to help us all here in central Arkanas catch more crappie. With jobs, wives, kids and there activitys, time on the water is precious. It would be nice to have a number of different fisherys within an hour drive of Little Rock that we all knew the gps coordinates of 10 or 20 condos to fish.

I guided some folks Monday and Tuesday that said they fished with a guide below Bull Shoals dam and the had a shore lunch on some island. They said there was a forest of 20' to 30' bamboo there. Does this location ring a bell?

    Hey Googh,

Man it liked to killed me to wait till time to go last weekend. You know I told the wife that is was a night stalk and she didn't want me to go till she thought it was time.

I can slip out of the house and leave her in bed and she don't care as much. I wouldn't mind be on the water early in the morning. Maybe doin a shore lunch.

That would be Cane Island out from Flippin, bamboo forest is an accurate description. Story I was told was the hill folks imported it in there in the mid 1800's so they'd have a handy supply of good fishing poles.

I hope to make this next event. Anywhere central Ark will be fine and any date, my schedule is loose. Let's just hope for good weather this time, biggest reason I quit club bass fishing is because I hated being on the water in lousy weather and you knew the fish weren't biting.

I know it would have been bad karma to postpone the recent event, being a first and all, but we really should have a weather evaluation vote or something 2 or 3 days prior to the event? Rain, wind, cold fronts can be really nasty in March.

    Hey LazyJ,

Some of us did talk about it and we said on this first one that we would go ahead with it and if it was to bad that we would just eat and visit and look at each other boats to get ideas and such. That's the reason I don't bass fish anymore.

But, come on to the next one. Got any input?

    Ideas!

Conway should be hot in 2-3 weeks around 89 bridge and you can sorta get outta the wind from any direction there, making Pierce Creek or Damsite a good meeting spot.

My personal favorite river hotspot is the backwater/White Oak Bayou area around the Burns Park ramp, also a couple more backwaters between there and downtown. Excellent ramp, pavillions, two boat docking piers.

Another river area I don't know much about is Fourche Creek city park by the airport, sure is a nice ramp, pavillion, etc and I been seeing alot of old-timers put in there lately when I drive by which sure gets my attention. If anybody knows there way around over there let me know.

Little Maumelle works for me too, its just that little ramp is always so busy and I get frustrated with the no-clue pleasure boaters but I can take a pill or something. Ya'll need to give the sit down, picnic table, roof overhead idea a consideration though.

Yes I've seen it, however, below Bull Shoals Dam is the State Park that runs about 3-4 miles along the river. It's alll catch and release from the dam to the head of the park. All the land either belongs to COE or State Park. Don't want to get caught cutt'n stuff in there. Wardens up the wazoo.

Besides, they got the other generator repaired and are now constantly running 7-8 generators around the clock to dump water from Bull Shoals before spring rains start. Bull Shoals is the last lake in the chain and catches all the water from the other lakes up river, and is usually quite high in the spring.
