Default I caught a stripe today

or is it a stripe bass?...was the biggest one I have ever caught;man what a fight, it took me about 5 minutes to get the sucker in the boat. It was 24 inches long. i'm going to give it to a friend of mine who is a taxidermist, he needs fish for show and tell...:D

I got my thump yesterday. I went to Old town and the fish I caught were in 18 inches of water. I caught about 15, 10 to 12 inch fish and a couple of 1.5 pound fish. I'm going back in the morning. I got tired of fighting this dayum wind today.

Hey Rusty, nice fish. How much did it weigh, it looks like a white, and the state record is 5 lb. 5 oz. Glad you caught some fish with all this wind.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

    Hey Rusty:

That looks to me like a Hybrid White Bass - cross between a White Bass and a Striper. They are the toughest fighters in the White Bass family IMO. They are pretty good in the Bacon Wrapped Fish recipe on my website.

I don't know how much it weighed. From just my lifting it up and guessing, I thought it weighed about 8 pounds. You should have seen me working my trolling motor to position my boat for trying not to get my other poles tangled. To my surprise I did not tangle up. Good drag and spiderwire landed that sucker....:D

It was a blast catching that sucker. It was like shellcrakers on steroids.

When Edhead and his friend Tom where here we caught several from 5 to 7.5-pounds. These were some of the bigger ones and by looking at the picture of yours it was probably in that range.

We were jigging Kastmaster spoons on Light action Ugly Stiks and they were a lot of fun to catch, especially when we had several on at the same time.

Way to go Rusty, Debra seen that picture and said "Oh Man!" You done better than my friend and I did. The main lake was to rough so we had to fish an area where I don't have any structure out yet. Didn't do very good but got some good ideas where to place some for West/N.West winds.

Rusty I sure wish I would have been in the boat with you when that was going down. Would have been fun coaching you from the back of the boat on landing that big hog. Bet is was quite the show.
