2-26-07 Little Maumelle Report

Just wanted to give a report. Went to the LM this afternoon. Fished from the mouth up the South side to the marina. Just using jigs no live bait. Don't have a fish finder so only fished visible structure on the South side. Has produced before but today, no luck. It sure was nice to get out though (except for getting blasted by a couple of boats).

Crappie can be finicky this early. Slabbandit and I built brushpiles yesterday. We heard the siren which goes off when water is released from the dam. I fished after he left and caught about 25 . They were small ,only about 3 keepers. I talked to another local on Nimrod who I met going as I was leaving. Today he said he had the same luck ,all small. Beats staying home most of the time.:D

I had a day like that last week. I had a fish finder...saw the fish and still had no luck. They seemed to have a bad case of lock jaw. But like you I still enjoyed being out. We'll get em next time!

Hey Mike, that's not the report that I was wanting to hear! Oh well, the crappie should be getting ready for some action out there on the Little Maumelle. It won't be long now...and they will be up on the banks, jumpin' in the boat.
