When does it get too windy to hang in there ?

The wind kept me from going Sunday. I had about 2 1/2 hours I could have fished Catherine or Hamilton without missing the Sunday Afternoon Service. Forecasted wind was 10-12 with gusts to 29. I stayed home and fired up the forge and worked on a boar spear. The wind was so bad it made keeping my propane forge running right tough. I hope next time I get a little free time the wind will be manageable.

I fish for fun, and wind takes the fun right out of it for me.

many years ago I lived up in Kansas, where it's windy 90% of the time. My dad and I fished every Saturday morning, unless it was too windy. We eventually decided that a 10mph wind before daylight was too much. Of course we didn't have the internet then or any easy way to get an actual wind speed. So we guesstimated by looking at a flag. A 10mph wind will just barely make a. Regular 3'x5' flag stand straight out. If it's straight out and popping that over 10.

With a 10mph limit before daylight, we could usually get in a few hours before the wind or the jet skis blew us off the lake.

ive been doing a little trout fishing below Carpenter Dam, in my kayak. I would think the striper fishing ought to be good with all that bait (trout) being stocked by the possum patrol.

I have caught a few highbred there. It's about time for the walleye to get going there too. I used to spend more time there than I do now. I had planned to take my kayak and try for some walleye, just can't find time for all the things I want to do.

It to windy when my TM want hold me

When I was a weekend only warrior before I retired, I fought the wind a lot harder than I do now. I always pay attention to what the wind is doing where I launch the boat. We have seen a lot of people get into trouble in big winds at landings, especially at Sardis and Grenada.

That's a fact for many big lakes.

Anything over 10 from the E or W at Maumelle and you really need a different plan - especially if you're like me and fishin out of a tin can duck boat

Its to windy when you see cows and combines fly by like in the movie Twister, other than that I fish and always say its better than sitting at home on the couch watching tv or working.

I swear Maumelle is the wind catch'nest lake i've ever been on. I've been out there at 15 mph and it feels like I'm with Captain Sig on the Northwestern.
