Default Question about fishing Arkansas River?

Ive been seeing some awesome catches coming from the river around shoal bay and I'm gonna try to get out for a bit tomorrow. I won't have time to drive that far so I'll probably have to put in at Clear creek by Alma. I hear people say clear creek is awesome even though I struggle there. I guess my question is, do y'all find that the river fishes different in different locations? If the crappie are on in one pool should they be on in another pool if temps, water depth and other stuff is pretty close to the same?

I think the river will fish the same as long as you are in the same pool. I'm no expert by any means but from my experience the biggest factor with fishing the River is the current. If you are up in a creek and they start pulling water out, might as well go home. If the water is rising then that's the best time. I have been catching them this week in 10 FOW in the backs of creeks fishing 5-6ft deep. Try colors that imitate shad. I haven't had any luck lately on my usual go to colors like chartreuse, pink/black, electric chicken, etc.

Hopefully, after this extreme cold snap moves out I can get out and find a few somewhere in the Ozark pool or Dardanelle pool.

I'm going tomorrow (yes I know, I need to have my head examined) but I will report back. I mainly fish the Ozark pool.

If you're going tomorrow, you deserve to catch a boat load of fish. Good luck and be safe.

Only two keepers. Let them go. I learned the hard way that braid is pretty much impossible to use in those temps.

I'm going tomorrow but don't know how long I'll stay. If they aren't biting I am headed back home where it's nice and warm.
