Default Beaver Lake in July ???

Next July my bride’s family is having a HUGE reunion in Springdale AR. While I will be attending some activities, I thought I would slip away for a day or so to Beaver Lake and sample the crappie.

I see one member of this forum takes a dim view of the lake. He reasons that there are too many stripers. Living near Kentucky Lake where the crappie AND the stripers abound I view that opinion with some skepticism.

I am looking for suggestions, recommendations and ideas about the area. We will be in her car, which has no hitch so I will need a boat, or a guide or someone willing to take me fishing for a day.

I appreciate any assistance you might give me.

Well it must not be much of a crappie lake if 110 people read the post and no one had any advice or suggestions.
    Thanks anyway.

Every once in a while someone will post about Beaver. Not too often. Bring your jet ski. Hope you enjoy your stay in Arkansas. That is a pretty part of the state. DP

I've heard of some hit mostly miss crappie success on Beaver. If you are interested in Walleye or Stripers, you can have some good luck on Beaver.

We found ZEEERO crappie on Beaver on the north end. Caught more bass than you could shake a stick at and one catfish. Rumor has it that there are more crappie on the south end, but I cannot confirm nor deny that. I did fish 100ft deep for crappie while I was there. That should be worth bragging rights in itself.

Sorry for the late reply. While I read your post yesterday morning - didn't have time to reply because I was in a hurry to go fishing on Beaver Lake. As far as recent skepticism about how bad a lake Beaver is or isn't, I'll just say, (you can't believe everything you read on the internet). Typically, July can be a slower month on Beaver - I am not sure if there are any crappie guides working Beaver now. You could probably call Southtown Sporting Goods located in Fayetteville (479)-443-7148 and they could tell you about the guide situation. While we do not fish much during the hot months feel free to send me a PM in the May or June timeframe and if I am available, I would be more than happy to take you out for the day. Enjoy your trip to NWA

Thanks RLCRAPPIE - It may be just a learning trip but I will probably get a guide that can show (and take as I am not bringing my boat) me around. I assume (always a dangerous thing) I can find a guide who is a multi-species guy as we have here on Kentucky Lake. I will call Southtown Sporting Goods when the time gets a little bit closer.

    Again thanks!

I'm the son blairarnold is talking about above. Had some good trips on that lake, with some really nice fish some years.

I crappie and walleye fished with the owner a lot when I was up there. He wasn't guiding at the time, and we were friends, so we fished together a lot. He is retired now, knows where to find them, loves what he does, and is as entertaining a host as you'll find.
