Sweet! Glad to hear you are going to make it Darryl. As it stands right now, I am bringing:
My boat with room for 1 comfortably
Grill for the burgers
Plenty of non-adult beverages and maybe a flask (:D)
plates, papertowels, utinsels
If I need to bring anything else, please let me know

I'm going to bring a book to read. I'll catch a fish, then read a chapter, then catch another fish, etc. That way it will give Grubby time to catch up. LOL

I'm heading down to Conway around 1300, so should be at the launch site by 1600. Thanks again for the invite.

It's supposed to be windy tomorrow so dress appropriately.

Just to prepare everyone.
It is not far from the ramp to the "pond". You can troll it in appx 15 minutes. You can motor to it, but it shouldn't be much more than a fast idle. The "pond" is only open on one side. the opening into it is appx. 35-50 feet wide. From there the pond opens up nicely. A subdivision has been developed around the 'pond". At night, you can actually see what programs are on T.V. in the houses. While the water is public, courtesy requires we respect the privacy and serenity of the subdivision. Be aware that loud voices carry over the water, control your Q-beams and otherwise respect our neighbors.
Do not be alarmed at the number of boats in the "pond". I have been there when it seemed you could walk from one boat to another. There is no visible structure, nor submerged growth, but there is a ton of bulldozier piles of logs and brush on the bottom. SOme of the home owners have also placed brush near there docks. This area is among the deepest parts of the lake. It has always produced quality (regularly over 2 lbs) crappie when it's right. Before the drawdown, the "pond" was literally jumping with shad. I suspect the drawdown has had some effect, but I do not believe the pattern has changed. We'll just have to see. Our timing is a little suspect, as Gold Creek is generally good just before dark (we'll be eating burgers). About an hour after dark, things get going again. Bring an ultralight to go with your long pole, so you can hit different spots. You won't really need to move much. When the fish are prowling, there are pretty equal opportunity.
One other thing about Gold Creek, I have never fished ANYWHERE where the fish were more particular about what they were hitting. When you find the color, share it. You can't catch 'em all. Everyone shoud have a few minnows on hand as well. Many times the right color has to be "tipped" with a pink minnow.
Hope this helps those of you who are going to unfamiliar water. If any of you GC regulars want to correct or add to any of this info, please chime in.
