Default Had a ball on Lake Greeson

My family likes to camp at Lake Greeson a couple times each summer, usually a week in June and a week in July. Last week was our July trip and as usual, it was tuff catching in July.....to start off. We only managed 3 keepers on day one. However, by the end of the trip we had KEPT 224 crappie and ended up having 3 fish fries for 6 people each time, and 20 quart bags of crappie to bring home for the freezer. Most were not monsters, but some were really nice. This is much better luck than we usually have in July. Just wanted to share.

It did end up being a great trip. Brushpiles in 20-25 foot of water, fishing with minnows at 14-16 feet deep. Caught a few on Tennessee shad colored jigs, but not many. Fished each morning from daylight to hot (about 9:30-10:00am).

Did you try any fishing around sundown?

No.... the evenings were tied up everyday with swimming and pulling kids around. I have a 5 year old and 17 month old and a wife that loves the water/boat. I spent the mornings fishing with my father-in-law each day and my oldest joined us a time or two.
