Chris like I said in the first thread about having a nightstalk the only things that would cause us to cancel or move the event was muddy water or high winds. Looks like we got bit by both.

The Little Maumelle River has been flowing the past few days due to excessive rainfall. Yesterday the river was at 95Kcfs, which is a very strong flow. The river also came up about 2’. The flow is forecasted to be down by Saturday evening, but the crappie bite will suffer.
Saturday is calling for slightly high winds. They are forecasted to be coming out of the WNW which is straight down the pipe at the Little Maumelle. Given that the water will be choppy, nightstalkin’ will be difficult with bouncing rods.
Given these two conditions and the feelings of several members that are to be in attendance, we have decided to MOVE the nightstalk to LAKE CONWAY. Since we are moving the arena, things might not flow as smoothly. But, the plans are to get out there around 4pm for some burgers and such (be sure to bring you some snacks along as well incase the burgers don’t work out). We will then nightstalk for the evening. As for the eat-n-greet, the cove that we will be fishing has a nice pavilion, but we are unsure about gaining privileges to use it. If anyone knows a property owner in that subdivision, please let me know. Another option is to use the facilities at the launching ramp. With all of us paying a launch fee and buying some shiners, I don’t see why he would have a problem with it, but I’ll just have to wait until Saturday morning to speak with him about the situation.
I plan launch my boat out there sometime between 9am and 12pm on Saturday. I hope to do a little fishing before everyone gets out there to eat and nightstalk. If anyone wants to come a little earlier and do some fishing, just let me know.
The launch fee is $2 and you can get 3doz. shiners or rosies for $3.50. I usually just give the guy $5 and he’ll give me the launch and some shiners.
The boat ramp is very deep, so you shouldn’t have any problems launching any kind of boat. The boat trail is marked well with no stumps. After we eat some burgers and chat for a little while, we will make a convoy out to the cove.
Also, be sure to reply to post #10 in the thread titled ”Headcount for Nightstalk”. Let me know how many folks you will have in your crew and if you plan to bring your boat or not.
I really hope that this change of plans doesn’t affect anyone that previously planned to show. If anyone can’t make it because of these change of plans, I am very sorry for any inconvenience. Hopefully we will be better prepared and the conditions will treat us better next time. It is our hopes to make this a monthly or every-other-month shindig, so NEXT MONTH, we will plan to be at the Little Maumelle.
Directions to the landing at Gold Creek:
-coming from LR, take the Mayflower exit. Go back over the interstate and turn right onto Hwy 365 North. About 5 miles or so down the road, you will go across a bridge (it will be the only bridge that you cross). As soon as you go over the bridge, turn right onto the first gravel road. There is a paved road just beside it, so be sure to take the gravel road. Follow the gravel road around to the launch.

Taking pictures keeps me insane!
Certainly this move won't deter anyone from attending. It's only 15-20 min from L Maumelle. I drive 1.5 hrs one way just to go to work.
For you folks that have never been on a nightstalk before....take a look at this.... http://www.crappie.com/rango/index.htm
Just a few side notes:
The gathering will start at 4pm at the launch on Gold Creek.
Bring your own drinks
Make sure that you bring plenty of poles.
Make sure that you bring your anchors (if not, I have 2 anchors that I can loan out for the evening)
Bring plenty of clothes...it's gonna get pretty chilly sat night
If you have a Q-beam, bring it.
We are still on GO. The winds are pretty stiff right now, but the weatherman says that the winds will laydown close to dark. They've also lowered the low temp for tonight to about 30 degrees by midnight. So, be sure to bring plenty of warm clothing. Also, if you have a couple of extra jackets, bring them incase someone is lacking a layer of clothing. Everyone be careful driving and we look forward to seeing you. CEB -
