    Default Lake Conway Keeper Ii

Here is another "keeper" from Lake Conway. This one was caught this fall. I had to find this picture or would have posted with "lake Conway Keeper". It was caught in the rain, like the other one. This one was measured at 16.75". Was not weighed (HE WILL HAVE A SCALE)

    Default ouch!!!

Man that really hurts. I missed my fall fishing in Conway because I didn't have a small boat. Did you catch him out of Wilahmina Cove? I have one on the wall from there I caught last December.

That is my son who is catching these. I asked him where he was getting them and he said it was off a point just east of I-40 where Lake Conway joins Gold Creek. I am not that familiar with the lake. He said there was a hole just off the point that drops several feet. He cathes at lot of fish in that area. Will try to get a better location when I talk to him again.

Don't know where your son's hotspot is, but I hope that I get to know it before too long.:D Those sure are some pretty crappie that he has been pullin' out of there.

I am pretty sure I know where he is talking about. Lots of timber across the creek from that point. Conway is a baffeling lake. It is hard to tell which stump to fish. I will be on it tomorrow morning in that area scouting around with my new depth finder. Even with all of the timber, I am considering sinking some brush along the channel in this area.

DrPepper The fish always like something different. If it's all standing tree trunks/stumps ,then brush maybe the ticket. If I fish an area of rocks or whatever I look for something different to start. Say a piece of wood on a rock bank or anything that is not SOS. Just place your condos on fish routes (creek channels and drop offs ) and the Crappie will move in.:D

That is kind of what I am thinking. The area we are talking about drops from 6 feet down to about 10. There are at least two secondary creeks that drain into this area. I am not sure where they do but, I know they are there somewhere. I want to drop some brush where they meet.
I wanted to do some scouting this weekend. But, that is hard for me to do when they are biting.
