levels
I found out the hard way too many times about the on board charger. I have also learned my lessons about checking the level. On my boat, it is too time consuming to look at the cells with out pulling the battery. I bought one of those fancy fillers from BP and started using distilled water like you are suposed to. That made a huge difference and i have eliminated running out of battery on the water.
Now if I just train my wife not to put her seasonal flowers and crap behind my boat in front of the plug I would have all of my charging problems solved.

The on-board batteries are good because they supply a 4 stage charge. They charge the batteries, then condition them (remove the bad stuff), and finally the float stage where it gives just the right charge to keep the batteries where they need to be for storage or until you use them next.
Jugum, how many days per year are you on the water?
