As the water temps cool down, I never expected to catch a 25lb Flat head on a 10 foot jig pole with 8 Lb test this late in the year. It took all i could muster keeping the fish out of brush and stumps on the Mr Crappie 8lb test I was using and the fight lasted about 45 minutes. The fish hit a BG chart split tail tipped with a nibble right in the middle of a brush pile. How i got him out of there was nothing short of a miracle. It was a great evening of fishing and found some Main Lake black toads to go with my flat head steaks too boot. Now if i can just add some Venison to the mix in the morning, What a weekend it will be. Still got to ask myself Is it just Global Warming, Or Friday the 13th isn't that bad?
I was able to pull my drowning dog Titan up out of the water as I was motoring back in at dark he accidentally fell in and was about to take his last breath. The shock and panic in the cold water just about took him today quickly. Thank the good Lord I was able to get to him in time. As I got the boat turned around to him he layed on his side... and starts to paddle in a frantic circle. I knew he would not make it if i did'nt get to him fast at this point. Thank You Lord.
