I would like to see ya shake them off an Southern Pro Umbrella Tube rigged up like I use without hooking them .:twocents I many times fish two jig poles but have to put one under my leg while removing the hook from a Crappie, before I can get it back in my hand have another hooked pulling on the second pole with nothing but a jig on it .:fish Got several folks that will back this up , no hook set needed .:biggrinQuote:

Its not just with Southern Pro tubes. I see it all the time with Bobby Garland, Midsouth, and Crappie Magnet. Them little buggers can be aggressive at times!
To me the future is not looking good for the lake if the crappie don't have the right size shad to feed on, if I'm reading the report right. I sure hope that changes for the lake...:pray
If they get a good hatch every spring it works but other wise the smaller fish suffer . Gizzard Shad grow too big fast and Threadfins will not survive the winter in these shallow lakes .Quote:

The water here usually gets flushed out with winter rains . Threadfins can't take cold water . Sure there are Threadfin Shad in Conway ? Dardanelle sometimes has a huge Shad winter kill . Biologist told me we only have Gizzard Shad here .Quote:

Well I don't know dilly about the problem, but I've seen some very large and healthy crappie that Mr. Nimrod has caught, so something right is going on there.....

Chris is right. There is threadfin shad in Conway. They are also in Overcup and Harris Brake. I am also surprised that there aren't any threadfin in Nimrod. I think that there are at least some threadfin in most sizable water bodies in the state.
