Jig dunkin' success
Being fairly new to using the long pole and jig I went to Conway today with the goal of catching something. Of course I was thinking crappie but honestly I was going to be happy with whatever. Things didn't start out smoothly. My TM wouldn't turn on and after fiddling around I found the loose connection at the battery and fixed that. Next the only power settings that would work was #1 & #5. Good thing #5 did work because the wind was blowing pretty good.
With a semi working TM I messed around fighting the wind and trying to keep my line and jig out of the limbs for about an hour. Then it happened. The first volunteer to chomp down on my jig was a bass. I'm guessing he was about 3" long and I still can't figure out how he stretched his mouth around that hook. Next up was a feisty white bass that went about a pound. He tried to tie my jig pole into a knot and sure was fun. Then guess who showed up? Mr. 12" Slab Jr. couldn't take it anymore and did a mercy bite!
My high hopes of loading the boat was soon dashed as I saw the lightning in the distance and the sky got darker. I pulled on the TM rope so I could move closer to the truck and POW it snapped. I took that as the last sign I needed to put the boat back on the trailer.
Things didn't go as planned but at least I can say I have caught them on the jig pole at Conway and I made it home.
