Yes, in various places in the Black River & other river or creek bottoms, but if you are asking there, you better call it cane because that's what the local folks will call it.

Hi,
What are the major difference between cane and bamboo?...I have heard that cane doesn't last as long as bamboo in water...Has anyone else heard that or confirm that?.....Or is it actually bamboo and they call it cane?...Are those rivers near Paragould?....
Jeremy
Thanks
Bye
Bamboo and cane are the same thing. There are two types native to Arkansas - Giant Cane and Switch Cane. Giant Cane gets up to 30-feet tall or more and has a lot of limbs on it and Switch Cane rarely gets over 10-feet tall and doesn't have any limbs. The leaves come right out of the main stalk.
Here's an interesting article by my friend Keith Sutton about cane - http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/g...on_cane-poling
