    Default Saving crappie lives

Now as you all know i try to do my fair share of crappie preservation by the way of taking some big flattys out. We had a good run on conway and saved no telling how many lives but we never hung that "big fish" . We left with our heads held high , running on some hot luck and sheer dermination we decided to hang and bait a flathead line on greers ferry since the launch is five mins out the door. We got into an old spot that weve hit pay dirt on a yearly basis ( as long as we got the water) and let some good bream do some soakin.

When i awoke this morning for lack of a better reason other than my mind was thinking about the gobbler hammering in the hollar behind the house , and i wasnt going to him but instead going to the lake to check a line i forgot the net. This come to be a big mistake. We get to the line lift the end up and two hooks away from the tree hung this big boy ...Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430092671.486409.jpg

I thought to myself hmm theres a predicament What to do? Best thing i could come up with was "DAD GRAB THE BLEEPING FISH!!!!".... Ya know it was closer to him than me . And im glad it was cause he got a tail slap whooping/bath And all i could think was he better not let loose of that fish!! We got back to the truck dug out some dry clothes and a 50lb scale and a phone for some pics It bottomed out the scale as soon we picked it up Ended up taking it to the slaughter house and went 52lb!! Nice one but be careful handling the whompus Cats by hand ! I know a older gentleman that caught one well over 50 here and wound up getting surgery to reattach ligaments in his arm last week! Another fellow several years back had one twist and broke his arm !

Nice one! Those big cats can skin a bare hand in their mouths as well. I learned that lesson the hard way.

Ya'll need to use some caution. The toxins build up in the belly pieces on those big cats and are unsafe to eat. Just cut those off and I'll come by and pick them up for proper disposal

Robby- let me know if you need a hand with that one of these days. I new to learn this skill better and you seem like a good teacher.
