Default Lowrance Elite-4x or Lowrance Elite-3x

Anybody on here use either of these units? If the 3x, which one DI or sonar?

    Pros? cons?

I fish mainly less than 15fow, and more times than any, its less than 8' in AR river oxbows and not very clear water.

My Old Lowrance X87 died sometime over the winter, so its time to get a new one.

We have a 5x DI on our net boat/habitat boat. It is just DI I believe. It works good for net placement and habitat placement. It doesn't not mark fish well. My buddy Matt has a 4x and it has DI and regular sonar. The DI works great for locating brush when the shad a think. When the shad are super thick, it is very hard to distinguish them from the brush piles. We tried to adjust the sensitivity but it didn't make much of a difference. Maybe it is just my armature status at interpreting sonar returns. I like Matt's 4x. It is nice to have both regular sonar and DI. Also, the bigger the screen that you can afford the better. My eyes are starting to get bad and I catch myself squinting at the 4" screen. Hope this helps.

For stand alone units, the new Helix 5 birds are really nice.
We only sell the Best. Ranger, Xpress, Yamaha, Suzuki, Tohatsu.

I am leaning towards the 4x with both on it. i wish I could afford one of the SI units, but they need to be under $300 before that is going to happen. They look pretty affordable at Academy, and I will just use the garmin handheld for gps for now, untill the SI units come down another couple hunert.
