    Default Lowrance mount while traveling

got an Hds 7 mounted on a ram mount in the floor of my small aluminum jon boat. my question is whether to leave it mounted and hooked up while driving to the lake or should I take it off and transport it in the front seat. would certainly be easier to get it ready before I leave home if it will take the road bumps. I just don't know about road jarring. thanks for any advise.

I have mine on a Ram mount on my console. I put the screen cover on and wrap a strip of Velcro around it just in case it were to come loose. I also lay mine down against a piece of swim noodle and tighten the ram mount so it is cushioned against anything while going down the road. I don't think normal vibrations from the highway would bother it. Never has in the past anyway.

I leave mine in the boat. No problem in lots of years doing it.

I got in the habit of taking mine off when not fishing. 5 minutes on and off for both of them.

If I leave my boat parked anywhere like a restaurant or hotel, it goes in my car or room, too easy to snatch and run.

I agree with Tn Johnboy it only takes 5 min to put on and off. So if you get in the habit of doing it now your get use to it and it's not a big deal. You pay too much for your DF as it is anyway. It only takes 1 bad pothole to ruin a day. Just my .
