I have a 45lb thrust foot control trolling motor with 5 speeds. Anyone know a way to fine-tune the speed adjustment on the motor? I was thinking something like a dimmer on a light switch? I have chains I can drag to slow the boat down, but I worry about burning the motor up?

I had my MK Edge converted from 12 to 24 and they put a maximizer on at that time. Cost me around $200 bucks IIRC. Makes it a lot easier to fine tune when rigging. I did get more interference on my front graph though.
Minn Kota does make a part that you can convert a 5 speed to a variable speed. I talked to them about it and was told it was very simple to install, wires color coded and some specific installation instructions. I've got the part number if you are still interested. As I recall, the part was about $190, somewhere in that range. PM me if you want me to look up that part number.
