    Default Fishin a new lake

How do you start off fishin a new lake? One that you have never been to. How do you find brush piles and such?

All that water, points, humps, coves. One day to find them. What color jig do you fish? Or do you you minnows? Why do you use jigs and not minnows or the other way around? Are minnows a for sure bet?

    My thoughts are:

First off, ask around and find someone that knows something about the lake if possible. Local baitshops have been a good source for me. Brush piles? Hopefully Jerry Blake has fished there before and can offer some up :D. As far a jigs vs minnows, I like to fish minnows myself, but I am not considered a "seasoned" veteran like most. I have been on Cane Creek and did pretty good on minnows and jig fishermen didn't do so hot. On the other hand, I have been severly "destroyed" by jig fishermen. :D. Since I have built my "bobberwatcher2000 super special rod holders" (patent pending), I have found that is a good way to cover some water in 30 ' swipes. Good luck to you

This sounds like my experience tournament fishing. I'll work up a post and get it on here later.
