It is not always easy to tell the length without measuring. The best way to handle this is to say, "Dude, that is a really nice fish. Let me see just how big it is" then put it on your own measuring board. If it's not over 10, release it for them and run. I have been known to release some of Carol's 13-14 inch fish when she gets a little sassy or don't run the net up to my standards. :biggrin
