I can remember friends of mine slaying them down there. But haven't heard much about that lake in a long time. Another possible Asian carp disaster maybe.

Fished merrisach lake in the wind and misty rain. Sad to say it, but ZEROED! It was tough out there because of wind direction and the lay of the lake. I did learn alot tough, so it wasnt a total bust! Used my navionics card for the first time and that was SWEET! I only saw fish one time on my graph and they were big enough to distinguish each one so they most likely were not crappie. There were 5 of em n a small group. Im thinking probably asain carp since they are EVERYWHERE down here. Lol

fished off the road on north end when it only had one pipe. Early and late we wore out the slab crappie. Standing on pipe and casting jigs or simply tightlining at the end of the pipes. One day in about November we went and were having no luck but a boat just east of the pipe had 2 guys in it and they were catching one every cast. They said that in fall when weeds died off they would get on wooden cover. Seemed like crappie weren't on the pipe at first light but bass were stacked. Then crappie came for a while then bream. like they all had a time to be there.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
