I haven't heard anything lately . But will try, if weather permits, to catch some this weekend. Then I'll let you know.
There he is!!! True Pro! Been thinking bout getting back n the boat wit ya man. Gotta kill something first tho![]()
Yeah I'll be focusing more on killing than catching for awhile. But I may try for a little while in the morning. Then I'll probably put the boat up for a while. Unless I can get some fishing in while hunting.
Im hearing that they are doing pretty good on Erling. Real good a couple of weeks ago at night fishing shinners under a lantern.

Well, I wasn't able to go Saturday but I did go Sunday morning. I first asked some local fishermen at the Lake Erling Country Store if anybody was catching any crappie lately. And one guy said 'just barely enough to eat a few". I got to fishing about 8:15 and fished as I have all summer pulling crank baits, but, as I suspected the water has cooled off considerably and they've changed, I didn't get one hit. But I did notice some guys catching a few with jigs, they were just pitching it out and letting it fall back to them. I saw them keep some and throw some back, too small I guess. So about 9:30 I started fishing the stumps with jigs and some known brush piles but only got one hit, until about 11:45 when I caught one decent fish on my way back to the ramp at the park, he hit it like he really wanted it. I spoke with a gentleman there who had a nice mess of really good crappie. He said they were hitting jigs well from 7:30 till about 8:00 and from 8 till 9 he only caught 3 more and then none after that. He was using a Bobby Garland single tail jig in the popsicle color with a 1/16th oz. chartreuse jig head. He told me that he and his brother caught their limit the Wednesday before but only caught half that many the next day. So I think when this weather settles down a guy could do pretty well if he gives it a try. And that's about all I know. Good fishing and let us know how you do.
Good report, Mac Daddy! Hate you didn't do better fishing, but great info for someone else to maybe use.![]()
My wife keeps saying I never listen to her....... or something like that!
Thanks, Mac Daddy! That was good information. Hopefully I'll give them a try about Thursday with jigs. Will update report if I get to go.
