I was planning to take a few days off work next week to spend on nimrod, then heard the news about ecoli contamination. then I started looking for alternative places to go. I heard on the news that the ecoli test turned out negative. but that is not an all clear because the swimming areas are still closed. whats going on up there? should I still find a different place to go next week?

You can get the bacteria if you have an open cut and come in contact with the algae which is on every fish that is pulled out of the water. I would be hesitant on fishing there until it clears up.
i wouldnt ever fish the lake again , you never no when it night show up again either, ecoli , algae bloom whats next mercury poisoning, malaria !!!!! no more nimrod for me !!!!!!! Lol!!!!!!

Thanks for the info. I have a pretty bad case of psoriasis, so I don't want to take any chances with anything that can enter through open wounds.
Hey HALF FAST my wife and I fished there Saturday, caught our limit. Not many people there, made it pretty nice. We didn't have any problems but if I were you with the condition you mentioned I'd probably go somewhere else too. Good luck fishing, and let us know where you tear them up.
ended up taking my parents brim fishing at atkins and didn't find many. then went to overcup for a couple days and found lots of bluegills but they are all small. we got home yesterday with about 40 crickets to drown in my pond. an hour later I had about 30 9 inch hybrid bluegills. The moral of the story is, keep on crappie fishing, or stay home.
Been fishing clear water...open cuts on hand, been stuck by fish fins in hand, cleaned fish without gloves, washed a cut out with the water, eat four meals of Nimrod crappie since out break. It's hard being a Ginne pig for you guys but I am trying my best to help give you the confidence to fish the lake. I stay away from any water that is blue green looking, but I have not seen any of that either yet. I always keep my eye on CA/Nimrod's health...I know he has nimrod water running through his vein's and if he is fishing and healthy then it should be OK. LOL
