Sorry to hear that. They have always gone out of their way to help. They even loaned me a new prop so I could search for the one I lost. Didn't know me from Adam. First time I went in the store.

I had almost cooled off about ART's marine till he was brought up here. Let me tell you a story. I have posted this same story on yelp, yahoo review, google review, and everywhere I could think of to try and let people know what a crooked place this is. I had been having trouble with my 150 Johnson for a while. new plugs would make it run great for a while (2 or 3 trips). then it would run a 1/4 mile and shut down to an idle, rough idle. Let is idle for 30 second and then run like new. sometimes for rest of the day, sometimes for100 yards. it gradually got worse. I took it to a couple places before arts. One place burned then I picked up the boat and took it to another place that said they had it fixed with a fuel pump and fuel line issues. It continually got worse until I took it to arts. art's marine kept it for a couple weeks and told me it has no compression. on the invoice it says 60 lbs is the best cylinder. and they recommended a complete rebuild 3800 bucks. I paid the $250for their lies and took it home and pum my compression gague on it and found the worst cylinder to have 90 lbs. I didn't trust my gague, so I took it 2 other places and got the exact same results as with my gague. The question I have is were they going to just fix the real problem, and tell me they had rebuilt the engine? or were they going to rebuild the engine and then say OH there is another problem, we need another $500? Or possibly rebuild the engine and give it back to me with still the same problem, and say tough luck?
Man, that sounds like an experience I had with an auto mechanic a couple of months ago. Took it in to have some front-end work done, about $600 worth. So after they did the work, they called and said, "Oh your head gasket is blown and you need a new engine, I wish we would have noticed it before we did the front-end work!" After I called BS on the new engine and told them to just replace the head gasket, I got another call, "Your water pump is bad." Then, "Your transmission is slipping." What the heck??? I got it back before the thing "caught on fire," or whatever was about to happen next, and replaced the transmission fluid that they drained out of it and it was fine, but it ended up costing me $2,300. Sold it 3 days later for $2,200. If anybody is thinking of getting repair work done in Jacksonville call me first!!! I don't know of any particularly good mechanics in the area, but I can tell you where NOT to go!!!
