And yes, if you think this is an ad for planer boards that's fine by me. I get to do this as I am the site owner, and I like supporting those that support us.
The best board available is the Off Shore OR-12. (Look for the one with the Sun!) I have friends that have been pulling the same pair of Off Shores for close to 20 years.
Sure - there are cheaper options, but reminds me of what my Dad always said: "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of a good price is forgotten"
With the "sharp dive curve" of a Bandit - I would highly suggest precision trolling data's phone app and/or tackle box sticker as well.
coming from the 2013 Crappie Masters national champ , pretty good info id say!!!

Not only that Greg, the second place boat was also using OR-12's with the tattle flags! Better listen to Tommy......anyone who is truly serious about using planer boards should stick with the Offshores and concentrate on how to make them do what you need them to do. We started using boards 2 1/2 years ago and bought some offbrand knockoffs but soon found out that you get what you pay for in this business. I love my Offshore boards.....they are built using the best materials to last a lifetime and I can go to fishing with confidence they will hold up to any task I ask them to do. It took some practice and we made some adjustments to make the flags more sensitive to our favorite fish and in my opinion they can not be beat. And you can take that to the bank!
